People in Wiregrass Georgia

Aristida stricta "wiregrass"
Genealogists have heard the term "wiregrass".  Specificially, it relates to that region of south Georgia, southeastern Alabama and the Florida Panhandle where this grass flourishes. It is the earmark of the sandy soil which also produce the tall short-bristle pine tree.  Travelers along the Georgia highways into Florida cannot help but to observe the soft flooding in these low-lands and few crop farming.  There is an abundance of forest products, including pulpwood, harvested from the wiregrass region.  When the land lottery provided draws into the south Georgia land, many persons received 202-1/2 acres in Lee and Lowndes Counties.  My tracings have discovered that only a few families settled in these counties in those days. Genealogical research should be structured in the county records because this is where the real story lies.  Deeds, plats, wills, estates, marriages.  If you have an ancestor who drew 202-1/2 acres, what happened after that?  Did he sell it, or move on somewhere else?  The only answers come from county records.
