Evidence of Cherokees in Georgia

Cherokee Indian Territories

The Cherokees in Georgia played a prominent part in the economy. They were farmers, and evidence of this is found throughout Hall, Gwinnett, Paulding, Jackson, Walton and Cobb Counties. Also, the evidence of many old trails still exist today. For example, the McIntosh trail near Brooks, Georgia in Fayette County. It is a paved road. One has to examine the landscape, searching for old mounds, creeks, etc.  In Paulding County there is the 12-Mile Creek, which is a stretch of land where families resided.  Arrows are found all along that creek. Some Cherokee families have been traced on Georgia Pioneers   Also available is the following:
