Status of Genealogy

When the internet cranked up in the 90's, genealogy ranked ahead of porn as being the most searched (in the search engine).  I, for one, believe that the internet best serves the work of the genealogist and that it was invented for this good purpose. Today, porn ranks as the most widely searched.  However, bad things follow good works. The question is whether or not our government is going to tax and regulate the internet as it wishes and turn it into a political machine, to serve the interests of the greedy and politicians.  An alternative might be the ever-expanding Netflix. Genealogical websites could easily be added to this medium. For those who have tried Netflix, it requires a special cord connected to the back of the tv set.  You do not need the cable connection, only an internet connection.  Streaming has greatly improved. Thus, therein lies new opportunities.
