Do not overlook the Minutes of the Inferior Court

Backroads lead to old cemeteries, churches, etc.
If you have an ancestor whose county records do not show up anywhere, like wills, deeds, marriages, etc., a good book for a final check is the Minutes of the Inferior Court.  Just about every trivial situation can be found in the minutes, including notations about wills being filed as well as estates. Sometimes, the clerk even writes the entire will into the book. One little smidget of information from the Minutes can lead you on another tangent. For example, if your ancestor was appointed a road commissioner or elected to work on the roads, you should write down the details of the route of such a proposed or existing road.  The reason is the work usually mentions neighboring farms, creeks, rivers, etc. which can then lead you to back-track this old road yourself and see what you can find.
