The Creeks and Cherokees


What is available for genealogists when searching for Native Americans?  From ca 1818, the Crreks in Georgia kept Indian Rolls. This was a record of the tribes after the cession of lands in 1818. The tree were the Old Settler Rolls kept in the 1850s. Creeks began migrating West, ending up in Kansas and Oklahoma. Then the Cherokee Rolls of 1833 represented a record of Cherokees forced out of Georgia. The 1832 Creek Census contained native names. Here is a list of records on Georgia Pioneers
