Private Collections of Georgia Records

Court house records do not always survive. Thus, any items discovered in private hands is a boon to the researcher. For example, Cobb County, Georgia court house records were burned by General Sherman. This means that most records prior to 1865 are gone. However, from the personal files of Jeannette Holland Austin comes Cobb Citizens, a collection which includes information on Cobb Families and photographs. You can find this under "Books" on www.georgiapioneers.com

Of interest, many of Ms. Austin's Georgia books are online available to researchers. Hmmmm. Saves money, joining the website, rather than purchasing all those books.
