Columbia County GA Wills and Estates

Researching for ancestors always involves searching county records. The good news is that researchers of families who lived in Columbia County may now do so online at www.georgiapioneers.com

Here is a list:

Columbia Wills 1790-1888 (abstracts); Index to Wills 1803-1821; 1839-1859; Index to Letters of Administration 1788-1825; Index to Distribution of Estates 1809-1827; Index to Inventories, Sales, etc. 1809-1850; Index to Accounts of Estates 1813-1833; Index to Deeds 1791-1816

The indexes are helpful in finding whether or not a record exists. For example, if you locate a record in the index to deeds, you can write the clerk of Columbia County providing book and page number, or you can visit the Georgia State Archives and quickly locate it on microfilm. Anytime you can save a trip (and gasoline) by not traveling to the Archives in Morrow, Georgia, you are ahead. That is why www.georgiapioneers.com is a useful site to genealogists. Digital images of court house records are continued to be added. To learn what is new, go here http://www.georgiapioneers.com/content/probateexplan.html
