Thomas Booker of Augusta, Georgia

The last will and testament of Thomas Booker of Richmond County, Georgia is the perfect example why it is necessary to examine court house records, particularly wills and estates, when searching for ancestors.  This was one of the earliest wills recorded in the county and he named two brothers, John and William, to whom he bequeathed 357 acres in Prince Edward County, Virginia. Also, he divided 500 acres in the same place, which had originally been devised to him by his father.  Yes!  Not only are his siblings named, but his origin.  The next step should be directed to all of the county records of Prince Edward County. Such details are invaluable.  The old Georgia wills are easily viewable on Georgia Pioneers  Incidentially, the last will and testament of Thomas Booker's father is available on Virginia Pioneers  How easy is that?
